7 books written by Chris Guillebeau

Chris Guillebeau is an American nonfiction author, blogger, and speaker. Apart from his seven entrepreneur-focused books that will be presented below, he also authored travel guides. Being a passionate traveler, he visited every country in the world and likes to say that an entrepreneur is:

"someone who will work 24 hours a day for themselves to avoid working one hour a day for someone else".

Let's see his books:

Written in 2010, this book is based on a very popular online manifesto he published online and aims to defy common assumptions about life and work, presenting self-employment alternatives.

“Unreasonable," "unrealistic," and "impractical" are all words used to marginalize a person or idea that fails to conform with conventionally expected standards.”

Completed in 2012, this book is a small treasure with ideas and practical steps to become an entrepreneur. Also, it presents 50 case studies of businesses that started with $100 or less.

Use the process of skill transformation to think about all the things you’re good at, not just the obvious ones.

This is an inspiring book with entrepreneurial ideas from people living in all the countries of the world. No matter the age, you'll definitely find ideas for your next entrepreneurial endeavors.

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future.”

This book is for those who are not quite sure that the job they currently have is the one for them. Maybe they are dissatisfied with what they are doing, maybe they've been working for a couple of years and there are no new things to learn or opportunities for growth. Either way, this is a good book to start answering to these.

“It’s less about how do I find time and more about why do I find the time. You’ll always find time for things that have a strong enough why.”

Maybe you like your job and you still find passion when doing it. If you are interested in having an extra income or developing an idea that is outside your work projects, you can do it through a side hustle.

“Do you have an idea you can explain in very simple language? Is your idea feasible, profitable, and persuasive? Is it clear how the idea will make money? When you think about the idea, does it make you feel excited?”

In this book, Chris presents a collection of case studies. Those that are familiar with his podcast and his previous books, will recognize some of them.

"The thing I remember best about successful people I’ve met all through the years is their obvious delight in what they’re doing and it seems to have very little to do with worldly success. They just love what they’re doing and they love it in front of others. Fred Rogers"

This is his last book. Unlike all the others, this presents his ideas not through case studies, but through the path of one individual. You see all the ideas that made Guillebeau so famous at work in the life of a person that might remind you of you, your challenges, your work, your dreams, and your ambitions.
